‘Hal Chal’ concludes

Hal Chal, the two-day grievance redressal camp for retired railway pensioners of Waltair Division of East Coast Railway, concluded at Srinivasa Kalyana Mandapam here on Friday. The pensioners should contact the Divisional Accounts office, DRM office annexe, Dondaparthi on the dates mentioned in the table. Divisional Railway Manager Mukul Saran Mathur monitored the situation from time to time. Announcements were made on the mike asking the pensioners to take the token and proceed to the PPO issue counters besides publicity in newspapers and message through electronic media. The Division would continue the exercise to issue the PPOs.

In view of the unprecedented rush on the first day, the officials doubled the number of counters for issue of Pension Pay Orders (PPOs) from five. Nearly 3,000 pensioners got their revised PPO s on Friday. Drinking water facility, tents and chairs were provided for the comfort of the pensioners, who came from different places. RPF, Civil Defence, Scouts and Guides were deployed for crowd control and to ensure orderliness. Divisional Railway Manager Mukul Saran Mathur monitored the situation from time to time. Tokens were issued in the adjacent building to prevent overcrowding around the counters. Announcements were made on the mike asking the pensioners to take the token and proceed to the PPO issue counters besides publicity in newspapers and message through electronic media. Mr. Mathur said that it was a unique exercise perhaps attempted first time on Indian Railway on such a large-scale. The Division would continue the exercise to issue the PPOs.
