215 tribal youths to be trained as security guards

Visakhapatnam: The enterprising Viskha rural police have been taking various measures to bring back tribal youths from the clutches of Maoists in the Visakha agency by providing them employment in various sectors.They have selected around 215 tribal youths to train them as security guards.In the Cheyuta-4 programme, cops have selected 215 out of 360 youths for the posts of security guard. The trained women have started selling their products under the name of ‘Manyam Brand’ clothes.In Cheyuta-3 programme, the police facilitated the training of tribal youth in repairing bikes. “Our aim is to provide employment to the tribal unemployed youth. The youths were drawn from interior villages in Annavaram, Chintapalli, GK Veedhi, Seeleru and parts of Koyyuru mandal, which are mostly Maoist-infested.

It is a continuous process for us to help them. We have been helping the tribal youth for the past six to eight years in various sectors,’ the DSP said.They conducted physical tests and interviews with the help of retired army officials at police station ground in Chintapalli in the Agency. All selected candidates would be trained at Anantapur and Hindupur academies. After the successful completion of the training, the youths would be provided jobs in GMR airport and other multinational companies.As part of community policing, the rural cops led by DSP P Rajendra Kumar has trained around 90 tribal youth, including 50 from Paderu and 40 from Chintapalli in Visakha agency, to drive. The eligible youths were given licences. Some of them were provided with loans through banks by the cops.Cops also organised tailoring classes for 30 women from Chintapalli and distributed machines among them free of cost. The trained women have started selling their products under the name of ‘Manyam Brand’ clothes.In Cheyuta-3 programme, the police facilitated the training of tribal youth in repairing bikes. The youths were drawn from interior villages in Annavaram, Chintapalli, GK Veedhi, Seeleru and parts of Koyyuru mandal, which are mostly Maoist-infested. After two months of free training at Nagavali Institute of Rural Entrepreneurship (NIRED). They were also provided free boarding and lodging.
