Fervour marks ‘Bahuda Yatra’

A large number of devotees thronged the Gundicha temple at Lawson’s Bay Colony to participate in ‘Bahuda Yatra’, marking the return of Lord Jagannath and his siblings to the main temple located at Daspalla Hills here on Sunday. The chhera pahanra (sweeping of the floor to make way for the chariot) was carried out by Pramod Bhanja Deo of erstwhile Daspalla royal family. Garlands of purple flowers and tulasi leaves adorned the idols of Jagannath, Balabhadra and Subhadra and the tastefully-decorated chariot rolled ahead amidst the rhythmic beats of the conch, drums and cymbals played by the Sambalpur-based Samrat folk artistes’ troupe in the festival hosted by by Utkal Sanskrutika Samaj.
