Japanese team eyeing biz opportunities in Vizag

The delegation comprising Masahiro Fujita, Sales Director and Satoshi Ishihara, Assistant Manager of Water Treatment Systems of Toray Industries Inc; Masashi Kawaguchi, founder and CEO of Dotcome, met AP Chambers of Commerce and Industry Federation (APCCIF) president G. Sambasiva Rao and discussed the possible business opportunities. Toray Industries ( India ) Pvt Ltd, the Indian subsidiary of Toray Industries Inc, has already set up their unit in the Sri City. It will manufacture products to be used by diaper-makers such as Unicharm, Proctor & Gamble, and Kimberley Clark, besides automotive, electrical and FMCG goods. Investment matters Welcoming the delegates, Mr. Samabasiva Rao said Japanese companies were making Andhra Pradesh their second home with companies such as Kobe Steel Group and Kobelco Cranes making investments. Toshiba Corporation and Hitachi projects are also in the pipeline. He assured all help from the business chambers to facilitate collaborations with the government and other agencies. “Desalination, a process of converting seawater into potable water, is good for solving the drinking water requirements of coastal cities such as Visakhapatnam. It is used for water intake for existing industries and help meet the increasing demand in the upcoming industrial nodes planned along the Vizag-Chennai Industrial Corridor and Chennai-Bangalore Industrial Corridor,” Mr. Rao said.
