CPI seeks independent probe into clinical trial allegations

“During the treatment, Rama Rao was adminsitered with the drugs as part of the clinical trials,” they alleged. After submitting a memorandum to the district authorities, seeking an independent probe into the incident, CPI district secretary B. Venkataramana sought action against the drug companies for whom the KGH had conducted the trials on patients. The CPI activists staged a dharna in front of the administrative block of King George Hospital (KGH) demanding action against the doctors responsible for ‘conducting clinical trials on patients without their consent’, here on Tuesday. Compensation soughtThe protesters also sought compensation to the kin of Rama Rao from Vizianagaram, who died last year after he went to KGH for treatment for high blood pressure and diabetes.
