Drinking water scheme at Padmanabham launched

HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao launched a drinking water scheme funded by World Bank in Padmanabham mandal on Sunday. Later in the day, the HRD Minister distributed cheques to the dependants of two deceased persons as part of insurance scheme. He said the scheme was aimed at providing potable water to all the households and it was constructed at a cost of ?19 crore. “The residents of 19 villages across the mandal will be benefitted from the scheme,” the Minister said.

Explaining the achievements of the TDP government, Mr. Srinivasa Rao said they were implementing as many as 68 welfare schemes including payment of enhanced pension to widows and aged people. An ex gratia of ?5 lakh under Chandranna Bima Padakam is being paid to the family members of the people who died in lightning related incidents, road accidents and snake bite cases. Later in the day, the HRD Minister distributed cheques to the dependants of two deceased persons as part of insurance scheme. Road works reviewed Mr. Srinivasa Rao also inspected the progress of the Ghat Road that is being laid at a cost of ?5.69 crore for the convenience of pilgrims visiting Ananta Padmanabhaswamy temple at Padmanabham. Among others, MPP Kala Padma Nagesh, Andhra Pradesh State Warehousing Corporation Director Mani Shankar Naidu, BC Corporation Executive Director Nageswara Rao and VUDA secretary A. Srinivas were present on the occasion.
