Basanth KumarWith many competitive proposals coming up exclusively on the development of Kursura submarine museum, Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA) may delink it from the integrated naval museum project proposed on the Beach Road. Two proposals on submarine development have been presented at a meeting with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, while the VMRDA presented the detailed plan for the development of integrated naval museum with several components. “We may go in for development of the other major components including underground parking, driveway, Sea Harrier museum and development of greenery,” VMRDA Commissioner P. Basanth Kumar told the media on Wednesday. The area under the purview of Rajiv Smruti Bhavan and that of Andhra University can be used for creating parking facilities for 1,000 four-wheelers and 1,000 two-wheelers, Mr. Basanth Kumar observed. Of the total estimate cost of ?52 crore, the development of the park has been proposed at ?19 crore.

Chandrababu Naidu, while the VMRDA presented the detailed plan for the development of integrated naval museum with several components. “Several MLAs had raised certain issues on underground parking under conditions such as sea surge at the District Review Committee meeting held recently and it was explained to them that it was 100 % feasible technically,” Mr. Basanth Kumar said. The subsurface parking has become necessary in view of the paucity of land. The area under the purview of Rajiv Smruti Bhavan and that of Andhra University can be used for creating parking facilities for 1,000 four-wheelers and 1,000 two-wheelers, Mr. Basanth Kumar observed. Mudasarlova Park De-linking the commercial proposals, the Mudasarlova park development would also be undertaken soon. Of the total estimate cost of ?52 crore, the development of the park has been proposed at ?19 crore. On the land pooling at Tri-Junction, Mr. Basanth Kumar said it would begin with 200 acres of government land, the hills area and the consents given by the farmers and the land would be used to development affordable housing projects. The objections received at the stakeholders’ meetings which mostly centred on deciding the present possession would be disposed of soon. “The relevant acts for land pooling have been explained to the stakeholders. Even the court has ruled that due procedure should be followed,” he added.
