Vice Admiral Narayan Prasad was commissioned into the Indian Navy as an Engineering Officer in July 1983. A post graduate in Mechanical Engineering, he has done an M. Phil in Defence and Strategic Studies, an official release said here on Monday. An alumnus of Sainik School Tilaiya and National Defence Academy (NDA), Vice Admiral Narayan Prasad has held various key positions in the Indian Navy including Operations, Staff, Dockyard and Strategic Projects. He also has served onboard frontline warships Talwar, Ranjit, Rana and also as the Fleet Engineer Officer of Eastern Fleet. Prior to this appointment, Vice Admiral Narayan Prasad served as the Assistant Chief of Materiel (Nuclear Systems Maintenance) at Integrated Headquarters, Union Ministry of Defence (Navy) in New Delhi. He has also been conferred with Ati Vishisht Seva Medal and Nausena Medal for his distinguished services.
