GVMC to roll out e-health solution for around 10k municipal school students

The project will cover nearly 10,200 students, including about 9,400 primary students and 800 upper primary students. Visakhapatnam: The Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) will soon launch an e-health solution architecture in 122 primary and upper primary schools in its premises. Based on the health data analysis of the students, school-level health benchmarks and healthy school rankings will be given.The GVMC commissioner said that the project was undertaken under Vizag Smart City project. “Education and sound health should be key instruments in aiding the future prospects of any student. Besides, doctors and teachers will be trained in adapting to this technology-enabled health monitoring system.The state government is also planning to issue health cards to the students containing information about their health.

Visakhapatnam: The Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) will soon launch an e-health solution architecture in 122 primary and upper primary schools in its premises. The project will cover nearly 10,200 students, including about 9,400 primary students and 800 upper primary students. The GVMC will also leverage existing government schemes like ‘Jawahar Bala Arogya Raksha’ and ‘Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram’ to meet their objectives.The medical teams on board will carry out required screening tests to ascertain the health conditions of the students, including growth and physical assessment, said the GVMC commissioner, M. Hari Narayanan.The students will be referred to advanced diagnostic tests or medical intervention at various government medical facilities based on the presentation, test results and symptoms.Various checkpoints will be implemented to track the health conditions of the referred students. Based on the health data analysis of the students, school-level health benchmarks and healthy school rankings will be given.The GVMC commissioner said that the project was undertaken under Vizag Smart City project. “Education and sound health should be key instruments in aiding the future prospects of any student. The project also supports the theme of the Vizag Smart City- ‘A Resilient and Healthy Metropolis for People’,” said Hari Narayanan.The students or their parents will be provided with a digital locker to have a lifetime access to their health data. The e-health solution architecture will also comprise teleconsultation and a technical help desk to provide support to the user group (students and parents).Apart from receiving calls from the users, the desk will hold the responsibility of addressing medical issues in a meaningful manner by current government schemes, which help them go in for free treatments at the nearby medical centres. Besides, doctors and teachers will be trained in adapting to this technology-enabled health monitoring system.The state government is also planning to issue health cards to the students containing information about their health.
