Visakhapatnam: The Old City area, between the historic Turner’s Choultry and Manganese House in One Town, is fast losing its charm. “My grandfather, Nihalchand, opened the Karachiwala stores near One Town police station in 1949, and it was a great success till 2005. “I had to shut down Prabhat Stores — which was set up by my father in 1951 — in 1999 because business was drying up fast. But by 1990 it was clear that the area was no longer attracting the kind of clientele we sought. “Subsequently, MF Khan moved to a shop near Mrs AVN College, and I also opened the first Raymond store there in 1980.
