Visakhapatnam: An integrated world class tourism museum may adorn the Beach Road if Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority's (VUDA) plans fructify as part of its efforts to make the stretch beautiful. INS Kursurura submarine museum is a top draw already and the upcoming TU-142 aircraft museum, among others, is going to add more colour to the beach stretch.The entire Beach Road will also be secured under CCTV surveillance. VUDA issued a request for proposal (RfP) for inviting creative architectural, landscape and design consultancies to prepare the master plan, designs, infrastructure plans for the comprehensive area of the beach front opposite the Kursura museum. The last date for submission of applications is April 28. Presentation of technical bids and financial bid openings of proposals will be held on May 2. VUDA officials said five aspirants have submitted RfPs.The components of the plan include Kursura musueum, obstruction-free TU-142 aircraft museum with a clear view, a war memorial, AU convention centre, Rajiv Smruthi Bhavan, visitors' centre under single roof consisting of ticket counter with waiting places, souvenir shops, cafeteria, toilets and interpretive centre with interactive visualisation shows, round the year flowering plants, beautiful landscaping keeping in mind the sea front, multi level parking for 300 cars and 200 bikes, AC plant and power house, CCTV coverage.A senior VUDA official told TOI that the consultant should deliver concept plans first. "The city is located between Eastern Ghats and Bay of Bengaland is known as the Jewel of East Coast and Goa of The East Coast," he said. Vizag beach has a vast stretch of 33 km from Fishing Harbour to Bheemili. This stretch has tourist destinations such as RK Beach, VUDA Park, Kailasagiri, Rushikonda Beach, the officer explained."Tourists flock to the city beach in particular and the government is planning to make Vizag as one of the international tourist destinations by including unique tourism projects, including the recent TU-142 aircraft museum. For this purpose, the VUDA is venturing into the a new realm of development model taking care of the design, development, revenue generation for operation and maintenance in a manner that is socially, economically and environmentally sustainable," the officer said.
