CM, top police officers on Maoist hit-list, says DGP

Visakhapatnam: Apart from chief minister Chandrababu Naidu, Maoists have drawn a hit list that includes several top police officers. He was the first top rank official killed by the naxals in the state after Mahabubnagar SP Paradesi Naidu in 1987. "Naxals had targeted DIG KS Vyas for his successful anti-naxal operations and killed him in Hyderabad way back in 1993. "The government will take stringent action against persons posting abusive, damaging and irresponsible comments on social media," he added. This list was drawn after the Ramaguda encounter in October last year in which over 30 ultras were killed, DGP N Sambasiva Rao said and added that for security reasons, the names of those on the hit list cannot be revealed.Addressing the media here on Friday, the DGP said they have already enhanced the security cover for the chief minister and all othrs on the hit list.

Most of the top rank police officials who have worked in Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, East Godavari, Prakasam, and Guntur districts in the past one and half decade are on the Maoist hit list," he added.Referring to the increasing cases of cyber crimes in Vizag, the DGP said that the police department will be setting up a cyber cell and laboratory on a priority basis. "The government will take stringent action against persons posting abusive, damaging and irresponsible comments on social media," he added.
