Having the cake and eating it too

Organised jointly by Ken Foundation and Fusion Foods, the cake eating contest was held for participants in batches. While the baking process started a day ahead of the contest, the icing on the cake was completed on Tuesday. After cutting the 71-foot cake to celebrate the 71st Independence Day, more than 130 participants walked in to exhibit their skills at the contest. “It took seven hours for the team to complete the icing process which started in the wee hours. Winners of the contest walked away with exciting prizes.

Plates with pieces of cakes were kept ready and participants who lined up to join the cake-eating contest could hardly wait to dig into their plates to devour them. After cutting the 71-foot cake to celebrate the 71st Independence Day, more than 130 participants walked in to exhibit their skills at the contest. Organised jointly by Ken Foundation and Fusion Foods, the cake eating contest was held for participants in batches. While the baking process started a day ahead of the contest, the icing on the cake was completed on Tuesday. “It took seven hours for the team to complete the icing process which started in the wee hours. A total of 50 trays have been used to bake the multi-layered cake weighing 465 kgs,” Harsha Vardhana Prasad, managing director of Fusion Foods, said. Sharing the objective of the event, P. Santosh of Ken Foundation said the idea of organising the contest was to involve diverse age groups in the celebrations and promote patriotism. Some of the contestants were seen seeking suggestions to gulp down the cakes with ease. “With my father sharing tips with me on how to consume more number of cakes, I feel confident to compete,” says V. Hema Srujana, Class VII student of Kotak Salesian School. Collector Pravin Kumar participated as chief guest. Winners of the contest walked away with exciting prizes.
