‘Rationalisation not meant for closing down of schools’

He said that if required, more teachers would be recruited for the next academic year through the District Selection Committee examination. “At present, the teacher-student ratio is 1:18 in some institutions and 1:100 in other schools. The rationalisation exercise aims to bridge this gap. About 14,000 schools have been identified for rationalisation where the number of students is less than the normal strength,” said Mr. Srinivasa Rao. He stated that such exercise would strengthen the education system and improve the standards. Apart from streamlining the biometric system in AU which is at present experiencing some teething problems, the Minister said Aadhar-enabled biometric attendance system will be introduced soon in all educational institutions across the State.
