An unforgettable experience for students from Agency

Veedhi mandals in Visakhapatnam Agency had an experience of city life when they were taken around the city by the district police for two days on Saturday and Sunday. Most of the students urged the senior police officers to take initiative for improvement of the road and communication connectivity. The students were brought in two buses and were housed as the Armed AP Battalion facility at Bakkannapalem. The students who have never seen life beyond the hills also enjoyed the ‘Guruda Vega’ movie at a cinema hall, said Superintendent of Police Rahul Dev Sharma.

The programme was organised as part of the ‘Vikas yatra’ and they were taken to the airport, Visakhapatnam Port Trust, Kursura Museum, VUDA Park and Visakhapatnam Central Park. The students who have never seen life beyond the hills also enjoyed the ‘Guruda Vega’ movie at a cinema hall, said Superintendent of Police Rahul Dev Sharma. Speaking to The Hindu, a tenth standard student from a village in GK Veedhi said that laying of roads can solve many of their problems including health and education. According to the SP, the CPI (Maoist) does not allow the government to lay roads and erect cell towers and the tribal people were suffering due to lack of road and communication connectivity. Most of the students urged the senior police officers to take initiative for improvement of the road and communication connectivity. “Owning to lack of connectivity, we are losing out on many things including knowledge and information about jobs and government schemes. We need internet facility in our areas,” said a student from Sileru. The students were brought in two buses and were housed as the Armed AP Battalion facility at Bakkannapalem. In the evening on Sunday, they staged a flash mob near the YMCA on Beach Road to the latest numbers from Hindi and Telugu movies.
