Salman Khan’s lawyer moves bail application

The Bollywood icon has been taken to the Jodhpur Central Jail- where he has spent the night.

Salman Khan landing into a jail for 1998 black buck poaching case, has shocked the nation.

The actor’s lawyers have already moved a bail application before sessions court, in hope that he will be relieved on April 6 and if not then they will move to the Rajasthan High Court.

Salman can challenge the conviction in the Rajasthan High Court within 90 days.

The megastar was handed the conviction and the subsequent sentencing by the Chief Judicial Magistrate in Jodhpur, where the prosecutors insisted that Salman is a habitual offender- which is believed to have weighted heavily against him.

In a statement by Khan's lawyer, Anand Desai, the latter states: 

"We respect the decision of the Hon'ble Court. While we are studying the judgement it just came as a surprise, as the investigation, and facts of this case were the same as those for which Salman has been acquitted by the Hon'ble High Court of Rajasthan in two cases, and even by the Hon'ble CJM in the Arms Act mater for the alleged offence on the very same night as is the subject matter of the present case.”
