Singer Palak Muchhal lodges complaint after getting stalked, accused arrested

During the interrogation, the accused has said that he got Muchhal’s number from a film directory, which reportedly also has contacts of other Bollywood personalities. The police is trying to find out if he was also threatening or harassing others.

Singer Palak Muchhal, who is famous for songs like 'Prem Ratan Dhan Payo' and MS Dhoni's track 'Kaun Tujhe'  registered a complaint on Wednesday for being allegedly stalked and harassed by a man. She filed an FIR at Amboli police station, Mumbai.

In the complaint she said has been getting calls and messages from an unknown number. In the beginning, the caller said he was a huge fan of her and requested to meet her when she politely declined the man allegedly persisted and continued to text and call. Initially, the singer decided to ignore him, but things took a violent turn when his messages got abusive and threatening.

According to a leading daily, the accused, Rajesh Shukla, is a 30-year-old professor from Sasaram in Bihar. He was arrested from the vicinity of CSMT railway station. He had allegedly come to Mumbai two weeks ago to meet the singer.

Talking to the tabloid, police said, “An FIR under Section 354 (D) (stalking) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code was registered on Wednesday by the Amboli police and the accused was arrested.”
