#Tandav : FIR filed against makers, actors, Amazon Prime in Mumbai

After complaint by BJP MLA Ram Kadam against web series Tandav, the Mumbai Police took a legal opinion and registered an FIR against the makers as well as actors of the show at the Ghatkopar Police Station on January 20.

The names of the accused in the FIR are director Ali Abbas Zafar, producer Himanshu Mehra, writer Gaurav Solanki, Head of India Origanals at Amazon Aparna Prohit, Senior VP and Country Manager Amit Agarwal, actor Saif Ali Khan and others.

On January 18, an FIR against makers of Tandav was filed at Hazratganj Police Station in Lucknow. The case was registered for allegedly creating a possibility of religious tension, portraying Hindu Gods in a bad light and using casteist scenes and dialogues in the series.

Makers of the web series have issued an apology and deleted objectionable scenes from the series.

On January 19, the makers released a statement announcing that they, under the guidance of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, have decided to implement certain changes in the show.

On the complaint against Tandav, Maharastra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh said, “action will be taken in accordance with the law. Series and films screened on OTP platforms can create a rift in the society, so the central government should make a law.
