Bollywood actor-turned politician Sunny Deol has distanced himself from Deep Sidhu, who is accused of instigating the crowd at Red Fort during the farmers' protest in New Delhi on Tuesday.

In a tweet in Hindi, Sunny Deol said he is "deeply saddened" by what happened at the Red Fort on Tuesday.

"I am deeply saddened by what happened at the Red Fort today. On December 6 itself, I had clarified on Twitter that I and my family have nothing to do with Deep Sidhu. Jai Hind."

Punjabi actor-singer Deep Sidhu came into the limelight when his pictures and videos from the Red fort violence went viral. In videos, Sidhu was seen holding the Khalsa flag and shouting slogans in support of Mazdoor Ekta' and Khalsa at Red Fort.

Haryana's farmer leader and Bharatiya Kisan Union state president Gurnam Singh Chaduni also accused Punjabi actor Deep Sidhu of misleading farmers.

The farmers, who have been protesting against the three Central Agricultural Laws for two months, were allowed by the Delhi Police to take out the kisan tractor parade on Republic Day and routes were already set for it.
