In a shocking turn of events American fashion designer Kate Spade was found dead at her New York apartment on Tuesday 5th June. As per the police the 55-year-old woman passed away after committing suicide.

According to an entertainment portal, Kate, who was popularly known for her fancy yet sophisticated handbags, hanged herself in her Park Avenue apartment. A police spokeswoman also confirmed that Kate Spade did commit suicide, but further mentioned that the exact circumstances of her death were not yet clear and they would investigate the matter.

In 1993, Kate launched Kate Spade Handbags, which went on to be a huge success. The couple got married in 1994 and with a thriving business, they expanded their line into clothing and jewelry which was an instant hit and Kate Spade became a household name.

She was very famous with Hollywood and Bollywood celebrities too. Her business kept growing till the new millennium and it became huge thereafter. However, Kate apparently sold of her company to Coach for an estimated $2.4 billion in 2007.

In 2016, Kate did make a comeback as she launched a new fashion label called Frances Valentine, named after her daughter. The shoes and handbags label did well. In the meantime, the police are investigating all the possiblities and we should know exactly what happened in the days to come. In the meantime, we send out condolences to her family. RIP Kate Spade!
