Why Rajshri Deshpande was much more than a nude scene in ‘Sacred Games’

Soon after the series was released online, the screenshots and video clips of the actress’ intimate scenes started making the rounds on social media and porn sites.

One can’t imagine the amount of versatility an actress like Rajshri Deshpande has. Right from selling mosquito repellent on small screen to playing a bold character in web series, Rajshri is much more than what she seems.

The actress may have entered the popular Netflix series Sacred Games in the fourth episode, but her short role as Subhadra, the wife of Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s character Ganesh Gaitonde, made an impact. But unfortunately, her role and acting got overshadowed by the nude scene she gave.

Soon after the series was released online, the screenshots and video clips of the actress’ intimate scenes started making the rounds on social media and porn sites. Talking about it the actress said, “The scenes are part of the narrative. We had the best writers and director on board. I’m not degrading myself. What I’ve portrayed is consensual love. Unfortunately, our society doesn’t want to discuss this. We don’t talk about menstruation, forget sex,”

Rajshri was playing a character which came into light after Kubra Sait aka Kukoo died. She stepped into the shoes of a strong woman in Gaitonde’s life who wasn’t just a wife but a wise advisor to her budding gangster husband.

“I don’t think about the length of the role, but the importance of character. I’m glad that I got to play Subhadra as she is a very important part in Gaitonde’s life,” says the actor.

Apart from Sacred Games Rajshri has featured in many films and ads on TV.
