Anil Kapoor’s son Harshvardhan Kapoor unveiled the first trailer of his upcoming film, Bhavesh Joshi Superhero where he plays a superhero minus any superpowers (as bestowed by radioactive spiders or gamma rays, for instance). Well, our desi superhero won’t let lack of superpowers come in his way though.

Like the 2010 superhero satire, Kick-Ass, Bhavesh Joshi Superhero also feature a slacker who decides to don tights and fight crime. A scene at the beginning of the trailer in which the three friends talk about superheroes and comic books is very similar to the one in Kick-Ass, in which Aaron Taylor Johnson’s Dave Lizewski wonders why more people don’t become superheroes in real life. There are also similarities in the scenes that depict Bhavesh’s earliest attempts at superheroics - he wears a makeshift mask, confronts wrongdoers, but soon realises that he is out of his depth. And like Kick-Ass, it takes the death of a loved one to push him over the edge.

Bhavesh Joshi Superhero will be Harshvardhan’s second film after his debut, Mirzya, which failed to impress the public. The film is slated to release on May 25.
