“Everything’s better with some wine in the belly.” Well, if you agree with this quote of Tyrion Lannister’s from ‘Game of Thrones’, we’ve got good news for you.
For the first time ever Maharashtra government is organizing a wine festival ‘India Grape Harvest, Wine Festival 2018’ in Nashik, starting from from February 9th to March 11th.
The festival is being organised by Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC), to promote agro and wine tourism.
Nashik has 40-odd vineyards and wineries and the festival is aiming to exhibit the best wines at various vineyards, social and cultural events and a carnival, said Jaykumar Rawal, state tourism minister.
Vallonne vineyard and Vinchur Wine Park are the two venues where tourists can experience local food with the best variety of wines.
Well, here are some perks of wine, which will keep you healthy
It contains antioxidants
Wine is full of antioxidants that attack free radicals causing cancers and other major health problems. When choosing your wine for antioxidants, go with white.
A study done by the University of Barcelona scientists saw that the phenols in white wine had equal, if not higher antioxidants, than those in red wine providing the most health benefits in moderate amounts.
It increases bone density
Red wine has high levels of silicon, which is good for your bone mineral density. It boosts the density and reduces the chance of osteoporosis. Just like warm cup of milk, it can you sleep lightly at night.
It reduces the risk of heart disease
According to WebMD, a study at the Israel Institute of Technology, Haifa tested the effects of red wine on the health of blood vessels. They found after 21 consecutive days of consumption was that blood vessel health was increased, improving the flow of blood. This increases the health of the heart, decreasing the risk of cardiovascular disease.
It reduces the risk of Type 2 diabetes
Resveratrol has proven to make better the sensibility to insulin. With insulin resistance contributing to type 2 diabetes risk, a nice glass of wine can help you out.
It improves the immune system
Moderate consumption of wine can protect against infections and keeping your immune system in check. Though excessive consumption can lead to negative effects.
Well! Doesn’t it sound like a paradise? That’s not all, various events will be organised at 14 vineyards that includes masterclass cooking by using wine. Like seriously? It’s like a dream come true.
