BJP-led Tripura government to rebuild statue of Mazumdar

AGARTALA: Tripura 's first BJP-led government on Saturday announced it will rebuild the statue of Communist stalwart and former deputy chief minister Baidyanath Majumdar, which was vandalised at Chandipur in Unakoti district on Wednesday. I have also spoken to the DGP and sought a time-bound inquiry into the pulling down of the statue," chief minister Biplab Deb said.The chief minister has sought a CID inquiry into the vandalism. The act of vandalism led to a series of charges and counter-charges by political parties. "I have asked the chief secretary to come up with a plan for the reconstruction.
