The government has been also provided scholarships to around 300 tribal students, including those undertaking IAS coaching in New Delhi.Nath said the Tripura is prioritizing the educator sector for development of the state and added that the state would need more than 15,000 trained teachers in the next five years.Pointing out that he has recently visited 100 schools across different districts, Nath said many of these schools have suffered due to administrative mismanagement for a long time. "For the last three weeks, I have been visiting government schools every day. I have met brilliant students and great teachers but many of these schools are in terrible condition due to mismanagement. Most students who are doing well have their parents and private tutors to thank for their efforts. I was shocked to see that many teachers do not take classes properly but are more involved in private tuitions," he said."During my visit to a school near Agartala , I found plenty of liquor bottles in the backyard of the staff room. The teacher-in-charge was drunk. If we rationalize the teachers across schools, it might be easier to keep these institutions functioning properly. But we have a dearth of trained teachers while hundreds of untrained instructors were appointed by the Left Front government in the state," he added.
