The scion of Tripuras royal family Pradyot Deb Barman, who visited Kanchanpur Bru camps on Wednesday, said nobody can force the Brus to leave Tripura. “This is your land and nobody can force you to quit from here,” Deb Barman said while interacting with the inmates of the camps. “Article 21 of the Indian Constitution gives us the right to food. And by stopping ration to the Bru camps the government has violated our rights,” he added. “The Reang people who lost their lands due to Dumbur Hydropower plant at Amarpur subdivision in Tripura migrated to some parts of Mizoram,” he said. “Tripura has enough place to accommodate Reang people. I will discuss this with the Tripura and Mizoram government,” he added. “It is painful to see the son of the soil being treated as refugees in their own land,” he reiterated. The former Tripura Congress president also informed he will file a writ petition in the High Court against the governments decision to stop ration supply to Bru. “After reaching Agartala I will discuss the situation with the indigenous lawyers,” Pradyot Deb Barman added. Deb Barman urged the Brus to maintain peace and unity with the other communities.
