Coronavirus lockdown Tripura govt to provide cooked food to homeless people

Tripura Government has decided to distribute cooked food items among the homeless, labourers, rickshaw pullers and daily wagers during the 21 days lockdown throughout the State. Food items will be cooked centrally at different parts of the State through local urban bodies. The cooked food packets will be served two times every day using four dedicated vehicles. Every district has a control room and those district level control rooms have been in touch with state level control room. State Health department opened a 'war room' and it will be functional 24×7.

Tripura Government has decided to distribute cooked food items among the homeless, labourers, rickshaw pullers and daily wagers during the 21 days lockdown throughout the State. The health secretary Dr Debasis Basu informed this to the media on Wednesday. He said especially those who stay on pavements and have no home they will provide food from the government. He said the food distribution system will start from Thursday. Also read: Coronavirus lockdown: Mizoram announces free ration to low income families The members of women SHG will prepare the food and pack those with proper hygiene and after the process the packaged foods will be distribute to the poor homeless people. Food items will be cooked centrally at different parts of the State through local urban bodies. The cooked food packets will be served two times every day using four dedicated vehicles. The food will be distributed to maintain proper physical distance. The health secretary said more than 1000 people are under scanner in the State for coronavirus and they are in quarantine. Among them 948 are in home quarantine and more than 50 are in institutional quarantine. As per the latest corona virus status report as on Wednesday evening, all level control rooms have been made functional and staffs put on duty for 24 hours. Every district has a control room and those district level control rooms have been in touch with state level control room. Debasis Basu said all the SDMs and BDOs are directed to go to field and inspected the ground reality. State Health department opened a war room and it will be functional 24×7. As per the official report, strict monitoring of markets is going on to ensure that there is no shortage of essential food items and that prices do not rise. Helicopter has been pressed into service to bring supplies from Kolkata and Guwahati. Debasis Basu also said, action is being taken by police department to enforce total lockdown. The latest State Government report also said samples taken from eight persons who travelled with the Manipur patient, who was the first coronavirus victim of the Northeast have tested negative. Samples of two persons will be taken on Thursday. One person has been categorized as low risk as he was sitting far away from the Manipur patients while travelling.
