On duty government official assaulted by Tipra Motha activists in South Tripura

An official who went to inspect development activities at Kalshi Autonomous District Council (ADC) village in South Tripura of Jolaibari RD block was allegedly attacked by a section of TIPRA Motha activists. Victim Ashok Kumar Mog suffered head injuries and local people took him to Jolaibari Community Health Center for treatment.

The victim lodged an FIR at Baikhora police station against Udaimanik Tripura, Parjoy Reang, Afrumon Mog, Nithai Mog, Liggya Mog, Momg Suthai Mog and others. Development activities were taking place under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA) in Kalshi village. “For the past few days, I have been attending meetings called by the Block Development Officer (BDO) of Jolaibari RD block and others. The officials on development works decided to start work in some villages``.

Mog said that “After talking to the Gram Panchayat Secretary, I went to Kalshi village on Tuesday. There the workers of Tipra Motha attacked me. I was beaten up and badly hit on the head”. The victim said that "As a government representative if I face such attack while on official duty in ADC areas, I will request Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb to look into the matter and punish the miscreants." "
