AGARTALA: The Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee has announced an intention to forge an alliance to take on both the Left Front and the BJP in the next assembly elections.Saying both the BJP and the CPM are "equally dangerous for the country", Congress legislative party leader Gopal Roy said on Monday a "grand alliance" of the Congress, the Trinamool Congress and indigenous-based political parties is "the only alternative" to them.Roy said, "We are thinking of uniting Trinamool Congress and other indigenous political parties against CPM and BJP in the coming elections. The Left Front has looted funds sanctioned from the Centre for development projects and the BJP is now trying to breach harmony."With the defection of the six MLAs to the BJP, Trinamool Congress has lost all claims of being the main opposition party in the state. TMC vice-president Dulal Das said the party is undecided about forging an alliance with the Congress as the party is now focussed on making the organization strong. "Mamatadidi and Sonia Gandhi will take the final decision. We will follow our supremo's advice."On the other hand, Indigenous Nationalist Party of Twipra (INPT) president Bijoy Kumar Hrangkhwal said, "The BJP is in power in Centre and many states. We feel uneasy over the bluster and rhetoric of state BJP leaders about going it alone for the assembly polls but still we are in touch with them. Whether any seat adjustment with BJP will finally materialize is a different matter but we will seek to know from them what they plan to do to ensure overall development of backward tribal communities. "
