20 yrs on, married man, 60, goes out in search of `girlfriend`, finds her in Surat

AGRA: A 62-year-old farmer Mahendra Singh went missing on August 14, days after he sold his 4 bigha land for Rs 21.42 lakh. Singh, a resident of village Mubarakpur under Dholna police station of Kasganj district, stays with his wife and two brothers along with their families in the village. He is a father to a married daughter.As per police, Singh was in a relationship with a married woman in his village 20 years ago. The relationship could continue only for a few months as the woman shifted to Surat along with her husband. However, the woman later separated from her husband and was living with her brother in Surat. Last week, police detained a mediator of the land deal and managed to contact Mahendra Singh. He sold his agricultural land and went to Surat, without informing his family and managed to find the woman. The family filed a complaint fearing that he might have been kidnapped for money, police said.Kotwali Dholna police SHO Ramprakash Gautam said, "Last month, we received a missing complaint of a senior citizen. A special team was tasked to find him. The man had gone to Surat and convinced his old lover to come back home. He has been handed over to his wife, daughter in the presence of Gram Pradhan as witness." "I have not committed any crime. I dont want to leave my wife, nor the woman with whom I had fallen in love 20 years ago. She too needs my support. I will equally distribute the money I have after selling the land," Singh told TOI.
