After warm spell, winter chill to set in this week, says Met

LUCKNOW: Get ready for some more winter chill as both day and night temperatures are expected to fall by two degrees or so this week. According to Met department, the city will witness shallow to moderate fog and cold conditions this week.On Sunday, the maximum temperaturewas 24.4 degrees Celsius, a degree below normal, while minimum temperature stood at 11.1 degrees Celsius."The minimum temperature will fall to around 9 degrees Celsius while maximum temperature will be around 22 degrees or so this week," said senior scientist atLucknow Met centre, Mohammad Danish.He said a fall in both day and night temperatures by around five degrees was witnessed in the last seven days and the coming weekend would be cooler. He said shallow to moderate fog will be witnessed in the morning on Monday and sky will be clear later in the day. Maximum and minimum temperatures will be around 24 degrees & 11 degrees Celsius, respectively. He said the state weather would be dry and shallow to moderate fog was likely at isolated places.On Sunday, the highest maximum temperature in the state was recorded at 26.8 degrees Celsius in Agra (Taj). During the last 24 hours, there was a significant drop in night temperature in the Varanasi division of the state and there was no major change in night temperature in all the remaining divisions.The night temperature in Gorakhpur, Kanpur, Meerut and Agra divisions of the state was above normal.
