Agra police arrest duo through online trap

AGRA: Agra police laid an online trap to arrest two men involved in incidents of looting online sellers. In the last two weeks, the duo had robbed two people — a lawyer and a student.In a bid to lure the accused, Agra police posted an advertisement for selling a phone on an e-commerce website. Soon the policemen got a call on the registered number from a buyer and a deal was finalised. Policemen laid a trap and the two accused, Hitesh Yadav and Manish Gurjar, were arrested. Hitesh (23) is a B.Sc. graduate and Manish (21) is pursuing graduation. Both of them come from middle-class families. The duo used to sell the loot at local shops and invest money in the stock market. Additional commissioner of police Sukanya Sharma said, The accused men used to search for ads on the website and contact the seller using a registered mobile number. They used to call sellers at a particular location and loot them.We put a post on the website to sell a phone with the contact number of a policeman on September 6. Soon, we got a call. A deal was finalised and the buyers called for a meeting. Policemen dressed in civil attire arrested the two men as they tried to loot the undercover policeman. During interrogation, both the accused confessed involvement in the two recent incidents, Sharma added.
