Teens shoot UP teacher, warn of `39 more bullets`

AGRA: Inspired by videos of gangsters, two class 12 students -- aged 17 and 19 -- carrying a country-made pistol called their tuition teacher, Sumit Kumar, outside the coaching class at Khandoli in Agra district on Thursday afternoon and shot him in his left leg.They fled the scene on a bike soon after, only to stop midway to record a 26-second video full of expletives where they threatened to "pump 39 more bullets into the teacher". One of the teens can be heard, in the clip, saying in Hindi: "Ill return after six months. Ive to shoot him 40 times, 39 remain." In the disturbing video which is being widely circulated on social media, they also refer to themselves as "gangsters".An FIR was registered against the two teenagers -- Uttam, 19, and the 17-year-old minor -- under IPC sections 307 (attempt to murder) and 506 (criminal intimidation) following the teachers complaint. Both the accused were arrested on Friday.One accused was upset as teacher informed family about affair: CopsD CP (Agra West) Sonam Kumar said, Two country-made weapons, including the one used to shoot the teacher, were recovered from them. He added, A case under section 3/25 of the Arms Act has also been registered. The injured teacher was rushed to hospital and is undergoing treatment. SHO (Khandoli) Neeraj Kumar Mishra added, One of the students was upset that the teacher informed his family about his affair with a girl at the coaching centre...Among the two accused, the 17- year-old was the one who shot at the teacher. Later before the police, the boys claimed responsibility for the crime which they said they committed to cause terror. Preparing for their high school exams, the two students, from farming families, had joined the coaching centre about two years ago. On Friday, while being taken to local court, Uttam said, We regret the incident and apologise for it. Last year, three kids were held in a murder case in Delhi with the police claiming they were inspired by gangster movies such as Pushpa and Bhaukaal. They had filmed the murder to upload on social media.
