AGRA: The Special Task Force (STF) of the Uttar Pradesh police busted two illegal manufacturing units in Agra that were involved in the production of counterfeit diesel and petrol. During the operation, officials recovered 36 drums filled with fake diesel and petrol, a fuel dispenser machine, a tanker, and more than 7,000 liters of various chemicals.According to the police, the production of the fake diesel and petrol involved a combination of kerosene, thinner, Naphtha (a flammable liquid hydrocarbon mixture), and other chemicals. These counterfeit fuels were then distributed and sold in the rural areas of Agra and neighbouring Rajasthan at prices of Rs 55 for diesel and Rs 60 for petrol.DSP UP STF, Uday Pratap Singh, said, "Three men who were operating the two centres have been arrested. They had established a well-organized distribution network that included local gram pradhans and district council members to market and sell the fake diesel and petrol. We are currently in the process of identifying others involved in this network. The accused claimed that their supply came from stolen oil company tanks to deceive consumers regarding the authenticity of the fuel. On a daily basis, they were supplying approximately 2,000 liters of counterfeit fuel."Those arrested have been identified as local residents Yogesh (alias Annu), Sanjay Usmani, and Ramveer Prajapati. According to locals, these manufacturing units, which were enclosed by a 15-foot-high boundary wall, had been operating illicitly for the past two years.
