10 cops, including 2 inspectors, removed for ‘negligence’

Agra: Six days after a 67-year-old farmer was allegedly run over by a tractor near an agricultural field, 10 policemen, including the SHO and inspector (law & order), two sub-inspectors and six constables, were removed by Firozabad senior superintendent of police. These cops posted at Narkhi police station have been attached to the police lines. SSP Ashish Tiwari said, Prima facie, the investigation found negligence of 10 policemen in the incident. The main accused was arrested on Sunday. The incident occurred during an inspection of land records by revenue officials at Garhi Kalyan village on October 3. Two police constables and three others were injured in an attack by alleged illegal occupants of the farm. The deceased farmer, Jagdish Pal Singh, had lodged a complaint accusing two brothers, Netrapal and Indrapal, of forcibly taking possession of the land he had purchased in a 2003 auction. The farmers family claimed police left the spot when the men attacked him.
