HC extends stay on demolition in Dayalbagh area

Agra: The Allahabad high court extended the stay on the demolition drive over the land claimed by the Radha Soami Satsang Sabha in the Dayalbagh area.On Tuesday, the HC extended its September 27 order to keep the demolition drive from being carried out by the Agra district administration on hold until October 16. Adjourning the matter on Tuesday, a bench of Justice Manish Kumar Nigam directed both parties to maintain the status quo until October 16. The Agra district administration has also been directed to produce the original record of the proceedings initiated against the Satsang Sabha land.On September 24, around 30 people, including police personnel, a media person, and women, sustained injuries in a clash between the police and followers of the Satsang Sabha. The clash erupted when a team from the local administration, accompanied by police personnel, arrived in the Dayalbagh locality to remove "illegal encroachments" by the Satsang Sabha on government land.As a bulldozer approached to dismantle a gate restricting public access, a group of approximately 200 Satsangis started stone-pelting, police claimed.
