Man, wife, son die in Agra-Aligarh NH accident; 9-yr-old daughter critical

AGRA: A couple and their 5-year-old son were killed and their 9-year-old daughter was injured in a road accident on Saturday near Barsai village on the Agra-Aligarh National Highway in Hathras. While Gopi Chand, 30, his wife Mamta, 28, and their son Raj Kumar, residents of Kishanpur Holi Chowk Ramghat Road in Aligarh, died, their daughter Sandhya is currently in critical condition at the district hospital, said officials.Police said the incident occurred when the family was returning from Hathras to Aligarh and a speeding mini-truck collided with their bike. Locals alerted area police. All four were admitted to the district hospital, where the couple was declared dead by doctors, and their boy succumbed to injuries during treatment. Shailendra Singh, Gopis cousin, said, Gopi had been seeking employment. The couple was known for caring and loving nature. Were appealing to the government to provide compensation for the surviving girl. SHO Sasni police station, KD Sharma, said, "A case was registered against the truck driver, who fled the scene, under various sections, including IPC 304A (causing death by negligence). The vehicle was seized and efforts are on to nab the driver. The driver of the SUV was allegedly talking on the phone at the time of the incident. Krishna Narangs family declined to get an autopsy done or lodge a complaint. CCTV footage from the societys cameras shows the car hitting her while taking a right turn. Neighbours described Krishna as a pious lady who would visit the temple every day.
