25 years on, five cops booked for stealing police station goods

Agra: Five police personnel, including an inspector, were booked for allegedly stealing goods from a police station storeroom in Muzaffarnagar over 25 years, officials said. Asked about the stolen goods, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Jansath) Shakeel Ahmed said, "Were still collating all the details." Jansath police station SHO Vinod Kumar said, "The goods are missing from the police stations storeroom and a case under IPC section 409 (criminal breach of trust by a public servant or by a banker, merchant or agent) was registered." The accused are inspector Suraj Prasad, currently posted in Agra, sub-inspector Raj Kumar, sub-inspector Narendra Singh, currently posted in Etah district, retired sub-inspector Jagdish Prasad, resident of Dehradun, and a head constable who has passed away. These five policemen, posted as head moharrir (storeroom in-charge) at different times at Jansath police station from December 19, 1998 to March 4, 2019, misappropriated the goods, said police.
