Farmers to stand against BJP govt from Oct 23: BKU

Agra: Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) national president Naresh Tikait said the farmers group will start a movement in a mahapanchayat on October 23 against the BJP government over installation of electric meters on tube wells, among other issues. At a panchayat in Mundbhar village of Muzaffarnagar on Tuesday, Naresh said, Farmers cooperated in forming the BJP government, but it is not living up to their expectations. BKU spokesperson Rakesh Tikait said, A battle will be announced on October 23, and the agitation will be led by Naresh Tikait. Farmers will bring electric meters to the gathering. We urge farmers to join the protest in large numbers. No date has been fixed for the protest to end. BKU Charuni has lodged a complaint with the deputy commissioner (DC) of Kurukshetra, demanding a thorough investigation into the matter. The DC has formed a committee to look into the complaint and requested a report within three days. The union alleges that this scam is causing inconvenience to genuine farmers and defrauding the government.
