Two coaches of Patalkot Express train catch fire in Agra, 2 injured

NEW DELHI/AGRA (UP): A fire broke out in two coaches of the Patalkot Express train in the Agra district of Uttar Pradesh resulting in injuries to at least two passengers on Wednesday afternoon, according to officials. The incident occurred as the Patalkot Express train, en route from Firozpur Cantonment in Punjab to Seoni in Madhya Pradesh, experienced a fire outbreak in its third and fourth coaches, located near the engine, around 3.45 pm. PTI quoted deputy commissioner of police (West) of the Agra Police commissionerate Sonam Kumar as saying that two passengers sustained injuries and were promptly transported to a hospital.According to Kumar, "Five fire tenders and a forensic team have arrived at the scene."Prashasti Srivastava, the public relations officer of the Agra Railway Division, stated that the exact cause of the fire was not immediately determined."Incident of a fire on the Patalkot Express has been reported between Bhandai and Jajau within the NCR (North Central Railway), Agra Division. Two coaches have suffered complete damage. Given that two adjacent coaches were also impacted, a total of four coaches have been disconnected from the train. The situation is now under control," she explained.According to a railway source, Bhandai station is located approximately 10 kilometers from Agra station, and the fire incident occurred as the train departed from Bhandai en route to the next station, Jajau.As per railway officials, the train came to a halt when the presence of smoke was detected, and an immediate evacuation was carried out.The source stated, "Train operations on the Agra-Dholpur route have been disrupted, with several trains being halted at different stations."Watch: Train coach catches fire at Agra Cantt Railway StationThe express train operates on the route connecting Firozpur Cantonment in Punjab and Seoni in Madhya Pradesh.With agency inputs
