UP: Man gets 20-year imprisonment for raping minor

AGRA: A Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act court has sentenced a man to 20 years of imprisonment for sexually assaulting a six-year-old girl. The POCSO court also found the man guilty of a murderous attack and sentenced him to an additional 10 years of jail. Both the punishments will run simultaneously, it said. District government counsel in Muzaffarnagar, Rajeev Sharma, said on Friday, "The crime took place in March 2017.The accused was booked under IPC sections 376 (rape), 377 (unnatural offences) and 307 (attempt to murder) and sent to jail. The girl was found in a pool of blood and she took months to recover."The court further imposed a fine of Rs 15,000. The minor, who was playing outside her home, was lured by the man on the pretext of a toffee.When she did not return home, her parents and relatives started searching for her. The girl was found lying in a field in a critical condition and taken to a local hospital. (The victims identity has not been revealed to protect her privacy as per Supreme Court directives on cases related to sexual assault.)
