Agra homestay employee dragged inside room, gang-raped; 5 arrested

AGRA: As many as five people, including a woman, have been arrested in connection with an alleged gang rape of a woman at a homestay in Tajganj locality of Agra, police said. The victim, who is 25 years of age, claimed that an objectionable video of her was made earlier and she was blackmailed over it. The victim told police that she was forced to drink alcohol and a glass bottle was broken on her head. "On Saturday night, Tajganj police received a call that in a rich homestay, a woman here had been raped and was assaulted. According to the complaint filed by the victim, a case has been filed under relevant sections," said ACP Archana Singh. Agra Police said that five people including one woman have been arrested after the incident was reported. Police say that the victim was an employee of the hotel. A viral video shows the victim being assaulted by a group of men. "Please help me", she could be heard saying in the video, as a man dragged her inside a room. The clip also shows her lying on the ground, alleging "torture" by the men."Four men and a woman have been arrested after the incident. The medical examination of the victim will be done and legal action is being taken in the case," Singh said.On basis of the complainant filed by the victim, an FIR was registered under IPC sections 376 (rape), 307 (attempt to murder), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), among other relevant sections, and sections 7 and 8 of The Immoral Traffic Prevention Act. The arrested men include "Rich homestay" manager Ravi Rathore and his friends Manish Rathore, Jitendra Rathore and Dev Kishore.
