2 more die 2 wks after firecracker blaze in Agra, toll touches 12

AGRA: Two persons, including a minor, injured in the blaze that gutted a makeshift firecracker market set up for Diwali here died during treatment, taking the toll to 12. "Deepchand (28), a resident of Pita Nagla village, initially admitted to SN Medical College Hospital in Agra, died on Friday after his family brought him home due to no signs of improvement in his condition," said SHO Raya police station Ajay Kishore.Rinku (17), from Naujheel town, admitted to AIIMS Hospital in Delhi, succumbed to injuries during treatment on Tuesday, he added. Police said the 10 people who lost their lives earlier included a father-son duo and two brothers. Anil Kumar (20), admitted to SN Medical College in Agra, and Rahul (15) and Khushi (10) undergoing treatment at AIIMS Delhi, lost their lives on November 18.Mohan Singh (47) and his son Rajesh (15), residents of Azad Nagar, succumbed to their injuries, on November 16 and 17 respectively, while undergoing treatment at different hospitals in Delhi, said the SHO. Sripal Bharadwaj (55), a primary school teacher admitted to Safdarjung Hospital, and Dharmendra alias Pappu (40) admitted to AIIMS-Delhi, had passed away earlier on November 15. Other victims included Anils elder brother Thakur Das (44), Sushil (28), and his cousin Lakhan (35). So far, 12 of 14 injured individuals have died, said police. "Two are still undergoing treatment at AIIMS", the SHO said.
