Father-daughter among 3 killed as truck rams tractor in thick fog, 3 kids critical

MUZAFFARNAGAR: Three persons, including a man and his daughter, were killed and four critically injured after a truck in which they were travelling rammed a tractor trolley in Uttar Pradess Muzaffarnagar district on Sunday morning. Police said the truck was on its way from Ambala to Patna and the incident may have occurred due to thick fog. While truck driver Bunty, 40, Nekpal Singh, 39, his daughter Nidhi, 6, (all from Moradabad district) died, Nekpals wife Rajkumari, 33, and three minor children are reported to be critical, police added.Police added that Bunty was going to Bihar with medicines while his neighbourNekpal was returning to his village with wife and four children. The incident occurred when the tractor, carrying sawdust, was coming from the opposite direction in Meerapur. DSP, Shakeel Ahmed, said, "The incident happened at 3am. The injured are being treated at a higher medical facility in Meerut. The tractor driver fled the spot. A case was registered against him under IPC section 304-A (causing death by negligence) at Meerapur police station." Villagers soon gathered and pulled out the trapped victims with the help of a crane. Three died on the spot while four others were rushed to a government hospital in Muzaffarnagar from where the doctors referred them to Meerut. Nekpals relative Ravinder Kumar said he was working at a private firm in Ambala.
