Agra: A local court in Aligarh district sentenced a 30-year-old man to life imprisonment for killing his neighbour over just Rs 200 following a heated argument three years ago. The court of additional district judge Sanjeev Kumar Singh also imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 on the convict.Additional district government counsel (ADGC), J P Rajput, said Jagdish alias Jaggu had borrowed Rs 200 from his neighbour Titu (23).A verbal dispute erupted when Titu asked him to return the money. The argument escalated when Jagdish attacked him with a knife. Titu sustained severe injuries to his stomach and was transferred to Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, where he succumbed to his injuries. The incident occurred on May 8, 2020.Upon the complaint filed by the victims cousin, Mahesh Chand, a case under IPC Section 302 (murder) was registered at Gangiri police station in Aligarh. The accused was arrested and incarcerated."During the trial, nine witnesses testified in court. The defendant claimed that the case was fake as there were no witnesses to the crime.
