This summer, beat the heat with measured fluid intake

The body is about 60% water, give or take. You are constantly losing water from your body, primarily via urine and sweat. To prevent dehydration, you need to drink adequate amounts of water.

There are many different opinions on how much water you should be drinking every day. Health authorities commonly recommend eight 8-ounce glasses, which equals about 2 liters, or half a gallon. This is called the 8×8 rule and is very easy to remember.

Dietician Ridhi Khanna says, “People should consume adequate water as well as buttermilk. These days there are a lot of chances of getting high or low blood pressure so people should keep themselves nourished and consume fruits, fruit juice and also sweet drinks or lemonades which can help people a lot in summers.”

People are using traditional methods to keep themselves energetic amid the scorching heat. “We can’t shun work. I eat curd or buttermilk at times to keep me energetic and work for long hours,” said a fruit vendor.

Over the last few years, reusable water bottles have become more and more affordable and available all over the world. They`re very convenient. I personally own a Kool8 bottle and I couldn`t be happier with the results.

Many people claim that if you do not stay hydrated throughout the day, your energy levels and brain function start to suffer. And there are plenty of studies to support this. One study in women showed that a fluid loss of 1.36% after exercise impaired mood and concentration and increased the frequency of headaches.
