Maiden heritage walk today to explore nine sites in Paithan

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: The maiden heritage walk in Paithan will be held on Sunday from 9am.The trail will cover about 31 places located in and around Paithan and will have in-depth discussions on nine sites. The walk is a joint initiative by Bal Gopal Ganesh Mandal, Pratishthan Books Publication Committee and National Service Scheme Unit of Tarai Arts and Science College. The walk will start at Balasaheb Patil Museum at 9 am and will conclude at Nag Ghat located on the bank of Godavari River. Jaywant Patil, a Mumbai-based senior officer from the State Excise department, said, Paithan, which was once the capital of Satvahna Dynasty, has many sites of historical and mythological importance. The first-of-its-kind heritage walk will shed light on heritage of the city. He added that Paithan has the potential to draw tourists from India and abroad.The Tirtha-khamb, erected during Satvahna Dynasty, Palthi Nagari and ancient places of worship will be covered during the walk. People in Nashik and Kolhapur are also eagerly preparing for the upcoming Ganesh festival, with increased spending on decorations and pandals.Four city heritage sites to turn into destination tourism spotsThe Uttar Pradesh tourism department has invited bidders for its Heritage Property Restoration Initiative, aiming to develop four heritage sites in Lucknow into tourism hotspots. The initiative involves converting these sites into five-star hotels and creating various facilities such as museums, cultural centers, and wedding destinations. The properties will be offered on a long-term lease for up to 90 years, and the bid parameter will be the annual concession fee paid by the concessionaire. The selection process will prioritize quality and cost-based selection.
