Police step up bail heat on sexual offenders

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Aurangabad rural superintendent of police Maneesh Kalwaniya has asked the police units under his jurisdiction to initiate process for cancellation of bail in cases where an individual on trial in a criminal matter is found directly or indirectly influencing or threatening the victims. The objective is to check crimes against women or pressurising victims. During his visits to police stations across the district, Kalwaniya has started summoning the victims and complainants to know their problems, if any, first hand. Based on the findings of investigations in cases of rape, molestation, eve-teasing, and under POCSO Act, we are interacting with the victims and complainants to know if they are facing any problem including threats for withdrawal of complaints, he told TOI. A case has been registered against Ankit and three unidentified individuals. The family of the victim protested at the local police station over the delay in apprehending the accused. Security has been increased in the village to ease tensions.
