Marathwada’s monsoon share inches towards normal amid heavy downpour

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: The good run of monsoon in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and nearby areas continued on Monday with several parts of the region receiving heavy showers.Several parts of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar reported nearly half-an-hour-long spell of medium showers after 12.30pm followed by occasional spells of light rain till evening. Parts of neighbouring Jalna, Parbhani, Hingoli and Beed districts also recorded noticeable rainfall activity.The rainfall also affected the movement of schoolchildren in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and caused traffic snarls at busy chowks for a brief period.Earlier, Marathwada recorded an average of 13 mm rainfall between Sunday and Monday morning with Hingoli (38 mm), Nanded (19 mm), Beed (17 mm), Latur (11 mm), Jalna (10 mm) receiving most showers in the region.Marathwada, comprising eight districts, has now reported 535 mm rainfall since June 1 as against the expected 652 mm rain. The federation of over 1,500 Ganesh mandals in the city has called for eco-friendly and peaceful celebrations. In addition, plans for a larger temple for the local deity, Sansthan Ganapati, were announced.Monsoon to leave with light rainfallThe monsoon season in Indore is expected to gradually retreat with light rainfall and no heavy spells anticipated. On Monday, the city experienced isolated light rainfall, with the airport observatory recording 0.4mm. The maximum temperature dropped to 29.2 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature was 22.1 degrees Celsius. Humidity levels decreased from 94% in the morning to 71% in the evening. Neighboring areas, however, experienced heavy rainfall, with Udainagar recording 150mm in the last 24 hours.
