Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: The city police have booked 12 people, including five already arrested for their role in the Rs 202 crore Adarsh credit co-operative scam, in another financial fraud to the tune of nearly Rs 36 crore.Based on a complaint lodged by Prabhakar Dhumal, an auditor with the cooperative societies department, the Cidco police have registered a case under IPC sections related to criminal breach of trust, cheating, criminal breach of trust by public servant, forgery, cheating for forgery and criminal conspiracy. The police have transferred the investigation to the economic offences wing considering the gravity of the case. EOW inspector Sambhaji Pawar said prima facie it appeared that the accused had resorted to rampant violations in standard operating procedure and the existing laws while granting Rs 35.9 crore loan to multiple parties, including themselves or their kin.It appears that the modus operandi in this case is similar to that of the Adarsh credit cooperative scam. However, things will become clear once the investigation reaches a certain stage, said Pawar. The complaint stated that the accused committed the crime in the 2022-23 fiscal and fleeced stakeholders of Jai Kisan Ginning and Pressing Cooperative Society Limited at Karmad in Aurangabad Rural. The complaint stated that the 12 people resorted to the criminal conspiracy in the process of loan distribution by wrongfully obtaining gains for themselves as well as those who have obtained loans in violation of the credit cooperative societies.
